The interest in this photograph lies in its provenance and the handwritten dedication, which link it directly to Nicolau Raurich’s personal circle. A prominent painter in Catalonia at the turn of the century, Raurich developed a body of work characterized by intense textural and chromatic qualities, which has been studied in an extensive monograph published by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.
