Russian icon from the 18th-19th century.

Slight lack of polychromy. Needs cleaning. Xylophages.
Measurements: 31 x 26 x 2.5 cm.
This icon moves away from the Russian aesthetics as it does not have the golden background typical of this school, using instead velvety colours that are very close to other European styles. It depicts Jesus Christ holding the bread and wine at the Last Supper, looking up to heaven in prayer. The Last Supper is one of the most important representations in the history of Western art, as it is the specific moment in which the sacrament of the Eucharist is established, since at this supper Jesus made the analogy between his body and the bread, and the wine and his blood.
