Russian icon, ca. 1900.
"Christ Pantocrator".
Tempera on wood.
In good condition, except for slight scratches.
Measurements: 30,5 x 26,1 x 2,1 cm.
Icon "of Christ Pantocrator" that represents Jesus of half body, in the frontal and hieratic face with expressive intensity. Christ holds the open book of the Gospel in his left hand, facing the congregation, and with his right hand, according to the Orthodox/Byzantine rite of blessing with the open palm and the articulation of the thumb and ring finger. In this type of icon the ineffable reality of God made Man is expressed.
