Russian icon with the representation of a Christ mayestático, wearing a tunic decorated with rich brocades. He makes the gesture of blessing with his right hand and holds the Gospels in his left. Seated on an opulent throne, he is flanked symmetrically by figures arranged in hierarchy according to their holiness. The Holy Spirit and God the Father with the orb in his left hand form a vertical axis from which the composition is ordered. Stylistically, we can appreciate the notable refinement achieved by Russian icons, which in the 19th century continued to respect certain orthodox precepts, but the figures became more stylised and their features softened. Vivid pigments are used for the symbolic use of colour, and a sinuous line with a synthetic stroke lengthens the canons.
