MASRIERA Y CARRERAS.
Brooch-pendant in yellow gold with platinum details. Model in the shape of a dragonfly with extended wings enameled by the plique-à-jour technique, embellished with fine lines of diamonds. Main body with line of diamonds and rubies, topped at the bottom by a cultured pearl.

Masriera's dragonflies synthesize the ornamental elegance of the motif with a harmonious design, enhanced by the technical mastery of the plique-à-jour enamel and its exquisite palette of transparencies.

Plique-à-jour, French: "allowing light to enter," a vitreous enameling technique in which the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but without any backing material on the finished product, so that light can pass through the transparent or translucent material. It is an extremely expensive technique (up to 4 months to produce a piece), with a high failure rate.
