The tennis bracelet, an evolution of the classic rivière style, is one of the most versatile and enduring designs in contemporary jewelry. Its appeal lies in the unbroken line of light created by diamonds of uniform size and appearance.
It is called a tennis bracelet because of its association with American tennis player Chris Evert. During a match at the U.S. Open, the diamond bracelet she was wearing came undone and fell onto the court, and play was halted while it was being searched for. The impact of the incident led to this style becoming popularly known as the tennis bracelet.
