"Memoirs of Socrates" is a work by Xenophon, a Greek historian and military man, which offers an insight into the life and teachings of Socrates, his teacher. The work, also known as "Recollections of Socrates", does not seek to be an exhaustive biography, but a collection of conversations and anecdotes that illustrate the character and philosophy of Socrates.
Giovanni Agostino De Cosmi was an outstanding Italian pedagogue and philosopher.A central figure in 18th century Sicilian cultural life, he was educated at the Clerical Seminary of Agrigento and went on to serve as rector of the University of Catania. In 1788, he was commissioned by King Ferdinand of Bourbon to draw up the regulatory plan for the Normal Schools on the island of Sicily. His work contributed significantly to the renewal of pedagogical thought within the European Enlightenment movement.
