Libro de la Paloma (1978), by Ricardo Eufemio Molinari (Buenos Aires, 1898-1996), is one of the most singular late works of his poetic production, published in a careful limited edition of 180 copies on Fabriano paper within the collection "Los Caniches" by D. Samuel César Palui. This edition, numbered 117, also stands out for its handmade production, with typographical intervention by Manuel Martínez Tuñez and direction by Eduardo Audivert and architect Héctor C. Álvarez, which reinforces its character as a book-object.
In this volume, Molinari delves into his usual lyrical universe, where nature and, in particular, the image of the dove, acquire a central symbolic value. The bird becomes an emblem of the ethereal, the fragile and the spiritual, functioning as a mediator between the sensible world and the interiority of the poetic subject. The writing is characterized by a contemplative and refined tone, in which the poetic image is imposed as a form of knowledge and revelation.
The high quality paper edition and its reduced print run underline the almost handmade character of the book, placing it in the tradition of contemporary bibliophilia. This material care dialogues with the intimate and reflective nature of the texts, reinforcing the idea of the book as a total aesthetic object.
As a whole, Libro de la Paloma represents a late synthesis of Molinari's poetic thought, where the apparent simplicity of the language encloses a deep symbolic density, consolidating his place as one of the most refined voices of 20th century Argentine poetry.
