This Mallorcan "bombé" chest of drawers from the 18th century, made in jacaranda wood, bone filleting and marquetry, presents curved forms. With a mixtilinear waist, it stands on four curved legs with a volute at the end. The front has five drawers, two of which are smaller and on the upper band, decorated with marquetry and sinuous bone fillets. The handles and keyholes are made of silver. The top continues the aesthetic of the rest of the piece of furniture with decoration in filleted bone creating a vegetal pattern. Formally, this chest of drawers is in a transitional style between late baroque and rococo, as the design still maintains the straight forms and the decoration is still subordinate to the structure. Likewise, the curved mitred forms are still reminiscent of the mixtilinear forms of the Baroque, while maintaining the symmetrical composition. However, the curved front plan that determines a bulge in the elevation is now clearly rococo, as is the predominance of sinuous lines in the decoration. Historically, Mallorcan furniture has stood out for receiving stylistic influences from numerous European areas thanks to the buoyant trade in the area, among which the influence of Catalan furniture stands out. Technically, it also stands out for its quality, both in terms of the materials used and the design.
