DESCRIPTION
Castilian table; XVII century.
Walnut wood.
It presents marks of use, slight faults and old damages caused by xylophagous.
Measurements: 75 x 84 x 59 cm.
Castilian table from the Baroque period made of walnut wood. The piece consists of four legs, all of them joined by a lower chambrana. Each of the legs is supported by a chamfered ball foot, very common in that period. In addition, all the legs have a turned carving design, which widens as a sphere in the central area, or the "knees". The upper area leading to the tabletop has a central drawer with a metal handle. The piece is topped with a simple rectangular board, without moldings, as is usual at this time, raised with a lot of flight on a high waist. Although in the Middle Ages, as was the case in the 16th century, the tables of the courts and great houses were simple boards on tassels, where the richness lay in the rich fabrics that covered them, the popular table always had a great prominence, as can be seen in the painting.
