DESCRIPTION

Threesome, France, nineteenth century.
Set consisting of sofa, four chairs and a table.
Carved and gilded wood. Upholstered seats and upholstered in silk.
Measurements: 100 x 155 x 70 cm (sofa measurements).
Aesthetically follow the Louis XV style, characterized by the successful ornamentation throughout. Thus, we see cabriole legs, molded profiles (especially in the waist and the top) and sinuous curved shapes typical of Louis XV furniture. The Louis XV style corresponds to the courtly French Rococo, the main style during this century. However, the usual movement of these examples is softened as an influence of works already in the Neoclassical style of the 19th century.
