DESCRIPTION
Table lamp in the manner of Tiffany's; United States, first third of the twentieth century.
Copper and glass.
Electrified. Not in working order.
Signed: Tiffany studios
Measurements: 39 x 17 x 17 cm.
Lamp with glass shade of green colors. The organicist design of the piece shown here shows the modernist imprint and a technique similar to that which gave celebrity to the lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany, and that give each piece a unique work of art status.
The first Tiffany lamps were created 100 years ago. Since then, hundreds of different patterns and designs have been created. Louis Comfort Tiffany was the American artist and industrial designer most associated with the Art Nouveau movement. He was a painter, interior decorator, designer of stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry and metalwork. In about 1875 he became interested in the technique of glassmaking and worked in various glassworks in Brooklyn.
