DESCRIPTION
Mudejar style door; Aragon, 17th century and later.
Pine and walnut wood. With gilded iron lock.
Preserves key.
Measurements: 218 x 150 x 7 cm; 205 x 127 cm.
Mudejar style door from Aragon, made of pine and walnut wood, with later interventions. It is structured in two articulated leaves, each one composed by a geometric scheme of quatrefoils in relief, characteristic of the Mudejar carpentry tradition and its taste for the modular repetition. The upper part incorporates openwork parapets with small turned balustrades, which add visual lightness to the whole. The piece preserves a lock and gilded ironwork, richly worked, which complement the ornamentation of Hispano-Muslim inspiration. As a whole, the door is evidence of the survival and stylistic adaptation of the Mudejar repertoire in Aragonese carpentry of the 17th century and later.
