DESCRIPTION
Doll; late 19th century.
Porcelain and fabric body.
Needs cleaning.
It has marks on the nape of the neck.
Measurements: 37 x 25 x 30 cm (seated).
Doll with porcelain head, arms and legs and nineteenth-century style glass eyes. Dressed in a pink dress with bows and lace, rosy cheeks, mouth half open with teeth. Until the mid-19th century, dolls reproduced adult women; around 1850 the first dolls in the shape of girls or babies appeared, and by the end of the century this new type dominated the market. Made of composition, porcelain, papier-mâché and other materials, the new dolls were delicately crafted, carefully polychromed and worked in a realistic manner. Hence, details such as movable eyes, wigs, different expressions, etc., are incorporated.
