DESCRIPTION
Pair of Empire style candlesticks; France, XIX century.
Gilded bronze.
Measurements: 31 x 13 x 13 x 13 cm (x2).
Pair of candlesticks in gilded bronze, following a typology derived from the Empire period, with triangular pedestal of curved sides of sharp edges, without decoration, and foot with three legs in the form of lion's claw, also decorated with palmettes and other classical plant motifs. The shaft takes the form of a balustrade, and is entirely worked in relief, with acanthus leaves and palmettes in the lower zone and a fluted body. Finally, the lighter follows the shape of a classic vase, with a sub-cup also decorated with a crown of acanthus leaves.
