Two technical boxes of professional compasses from the house of C. Riefler, one of the most recognized firms of European scientific instruments of the 19th century. The set includes a wide range of precision drawing tools made of steel, with wood finishes and articulated mechanisms. Very good interior preservation, with practically all the original elements present. Among the pieces are several radial compasses with micrometric head, engraved metal rulers, drawing lines, adapters, articulated moustaches, compass and dividers, among other specialized accessories. This type of box was intended for professional use in architectural, civil engineering and technical cartography studies.
Founded in 1841 by Clemens Riefler, this Bavarian firm specialized in drawing instruments of the highest precision, known for their durability, mechanical smoothness and meticulous finish. Since the end of the 19th century, Riefler established itself as a supplier to technical institutions and universities in Europe and America, and was also recognized for its precision pendulum clocks - used in observatories and laboratories - and for its participation in international industrial fairs. Its compasses, manufactured to the highest standards, stand out for their modular construction, the quality of their materials and a mechanical precision that is difficult to match even today.
