DESCRIPTION
Set of compasses in 1 box and 1 pocket case. Central Europe, 18th-19th century.
Wooden boxes lined with imitation leather, with damage.
Steel and bakelite instruments.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: 2 x 18 x 7,5 cm.
This set consists of two cases of technical drawing instruments. The wooden case with velvet lined interior contains a set of precision compasses, with screw or spring adjustment, made mainly of polished brass for the body and steel for the sharp points and drawlines. The pocket case contains scales and wooden (possibly boxwood or maple) folding ruler with graduations. It also contains small pocket compasses or accessories that were conveniently stored for field work or quick measurements. It also includes a steel-tipped strut compass.
