Glazed porcelain vase decorated with a gallant scene in the center. The Carl Thieme porcelain company was founded in 1886 (or 1836) in Potschappel, Saxony, Germany, by Carl Thieme. The town of Potschappel, along with nearby Dresden and Meissen, has a long tradition of porcelain production dating back to the 18th century.
The company quickly became one of the most successful porcelain factories in Germany. In 1900, it received a gold medal at the Paris World's Fair for its exquisite porcelain figurines. The Carl Thieme Porcelain Company continued to produce high-quality porcelain until its closure in 1935.
