DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks. France, Napoleon III style, second half of the nineteenth century.
"Gallant couples".
Biscuit and gilded bronze.
Measurements: 42 x 22 x 15 cm.
Pair of candelabra of three lights each one, with the sinuous arms in gilded bronze emulating vegetable stems with foliated tulips, which in turn simulate to be the trees under which the gallant couples perch, made in biscuit. These sculptures represent elegant couples accompanied by animals that give the scenes a pastoral atmosphere. In one of them, the knight gives his beloved a freshly picked flower. The other couple exchanges glances and loving gestures. Their attire is eighteenth-century. Stylistically, these statuettes, combined with the arms in ormolu, present an eclectic style between rococo and neoclassicism.
