DESCRIPTION
Pair of candlesticks; End of XIX century.
Bronze and metal.
Measurements: 68 x 44 x 20 cm (x2).
This pair of candlesticks is an example of the ornamental production in bronze and metal typical of the historicist taste that characterized the European decorative art of this period. Conceived as a symmetrical ensemble, the candelabra present a complex and richly articulated structure.
Each piece is organized around a central axis, from which multiple arms are arranged to support the candles, creating a balanced and ascending composition. The profuse decoration is composed of scrolls, vegetal elements, cartouches and heraldic and symbolic motifs, executed with great attention to detail. The figurative reliefs and the details in chromatic contrast stand out, where the golden areas coexist with applications of darker tones, creating a visual game of great richness.
From a stylistic point of view, these chandeliers are part of the eclecticism of the late 19th century, a time when historical styles, especially baroque and rococo, were reinterpreted, adapting them to the tastes and techniques of the industrial era.
