Measurements: 142 x 94,5 cm; 120 x 72 cm.
This Philip V frame, made in Spain during the first half of the 18th century, is a representative example of the Baroque decorative taste developed under the influence of the new Bourbon court. The arrival of Philip V introduced French models that transformed the Spanish decorative arts, bringing greater elegance and ornamental sophistication.
The piece, made of carved and polychromed wood, stands out for its combination of gilding, marbled backgrounds and sinuous vegetal motifs, typical elements of the late baroque and the incipient rococo. The decoration is evenly distributed along the molding, generating a refined and dynamic effect that framed paintings or mirrors destined for noble interiors.
