DESCRIPTION
RICHARD LONG (England, 1945).
Untitled. Series "Rock drawings".
Silkscreen on Velin Arches paper, copy 12/35.
It has a label on the back of the gallery Alejandro Sales.
Measurements: 79 x 73.5 cm; 85.5 x 79 cm (frame).
Lithograph on paper whose composition is close to an aesthetic of conceptual character, where he introduces the intellectual need in the exercise of reflecting on the work and its representation.
Long began his academic training at the West of England College of Art, and later in 1966 at Saint Martin's School of Art in London where he studied with Anthony Caro and Phillip King. At the beginning of his career several of his works were based on natural terrestrial sculpture Long uses media such as photography, text and maps of the landscape through which he has walked. Walks that began in the mid-1960s, and have taken place in areas such as the Sahara Desert, Australia, Iceland and near his home in Bristol. His work has proven to be revolutionary in that it has changed the way society views sculpture. His work has influenced the boundaries of sculpture so that it is not limited to only "traditional" materials and can use alternative materials. Other pieces consist of photographs or maps of unaltered landscapes accompanied by text detailing the location and time of the walk it indicates.
