The book is a contemporary interpretation of Amos Tutuola's 1954 novel My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.
Cristina de Middel is an internationally recognized Spanish documentary photographer and artist. After working as a photojournalist, she has become known for her artistic style that fuses reality and fiction, questioning the nature of photographic truth. She was named president of the Magnum Agency in 2022 and in 2017 won Spain's National Photography Award. She also received the 2024 Princess of Asturias Award for Concord.
