"Axonometric" (2019) accurately reflects one of the conceptual cores of Pezo von Ellrichshausen's work: the systematic exploration of architectural form through abstract and rigorous representation. In this print, the modular repetition of geometric volumes, presented in different axonometric variations, turns the design process into an autonomous, almost musical field of research.
The work participates in the logic of the "visual essay" that characterizes the practice of the Chilean studio, where architecture is not only constructed as a physical object, but also as a graphic reflection, spatial speculation and perceptive discipline.
Pezo von Ellrichshausen is a studio founded in Concepción (Chile) in 2002 by Mauricio Pezo (Chile, 1973) and Sofía von Ellrichshausen (Argentina, 1976). Their work, which integrates architecture, art and visual thought, is distinguished by a systematic approach to form and the use of elementary geometric structures developed through series, repetition and variation. The studio achieved international projection with works such as the Casa Poli (X Region, Chile), which earned them global recognition and academic and exhibition invitations. They have participated in the Venice Biennial (Chile Pavilion, 2008), the Chicago Biennial, the São Paulo Biennial and numerous architecture and contemporary art exhibitions.
Their production is represented in institutions such as the MoMA in New York, the Tate Modern in London, the MAK in Vienna and the Centre Pompidou-Metz, consolidating their reputation as one of the most singular and conceptual voices of contemporary Latin American architecture.
