DESCRIPTION

HANS HARTUNG (Germany, 1904 - France, 1989).
"Exposition en Suisse".
Silkscreen.
In very good condition.
Measurements: 92,5 x 50 cm.

Poster conceived by Hans Hartung in which the artist transfers to the graphic field the essential principles of his abstract and gestural language.

The gesture, the absolute protagonist of the work, refers directly to Hartung's pictorial practice, based on the immediacy of the stroke, the exploration of rhythm and the tension between control and spontaneity.

This silkscreen is part of the artist's outstanding graphic production, in which Hartung was able to transfer his pictorial research to the printed medium with great coherence. Conceived as an exhibition poster, the work transcends its communicative function to become an autonomous piece, representative of post-war European lyrical abstraction.

Hans Hartung is one of the key figures of 20th century abstraction and one of the main representatives of lyrical abstraction. His work is part of the collections of institutions such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Tate Modern (London) and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid). His career is characterized by a constant research on gesture, the energy of the stroke and the expressiveness of the sign, which had a decisive influence on the development of European informalism.
