Poster realized on the occasion of the season of the "Metropolitan Opera" dedicated to Igor Stravinsky, one of the fundamental figures of the music of the 20th century. The composition presents a vertical structure dominated by schematic forms and graphic symbols, organized as a totemic sequence on a black background, a frequent resource in David Hockney's theatrical and musical posters.

The visual language, of great formal simplicity and strong chromatic impact, combines figurative elements and abstract signs, establishing a dialogue between image, music and dramaturgy.

The posters designed by David Hockney for operas, theaters and ballets are an essential part of his graphic production and are especially valued when they are signed, as in this case, which significantly increases their collector interest.

David Hockney is one of the most influential British artists in contemporary art. His work is in the collections of the Tate in London, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Painter, printmaker and set designer, he has developed a career marked by visual experimentation and a close relationship with music, theater and opera.
