Poster realized on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to Fernand Léger at the Musée de Lyon, held between June 28 and September 30, 1955, within the framework of the Festival Lyon-Charbonnières.
The scene, clearly figurative and popular, reflects the artist's interest in the representation of modern life and the integration of the human figure in a rhythmic and monumental structure.
The graphic editions by Léger produced by the Mourlot workshop stand out for their high technical quality and their close relationship with the artist's painting.
Fernand Léger was one of the fundamental figures of the European avant-garde and a key protagonist of Cubism and modern art in the 20th century. His work is preserved in the collections of the Musée National d'Art Moderne - Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, as well as in international institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate in London and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. His visual language, based on the synthesis between figure, color and the modern world, had a decisive influence on the development of 20th century art.
