DESCRIPTION

SALVADOR DALÍ I DOMÈNECH(Figueres, 1904 - 1989)
"Exposition, Musee Figueres, 1974.
Grapholith, Wajntrob.
Measurements: 85 × 119,5 cm.

Poster conceived by Salvador Dalí for the exhibition held in Figueres in 1974, at the height of the artist's creative maturity and closely linked to his personal universe and the consolidation of his museum project in his hometown. The composition presents one of the most characteristic iconographies of Dalí's imaginary: hybrid figures, metamorphic objects and symbolic references to time, desire and identity.

The central image, dominated by a fantastic creature of elongated anatomy and zoomorphic character, integrates recurring elements in Dalí's work, such as soft watches, organic forms and surreal associations between body, landscape and object.

Created using grapholith by the publisher Wajntrob, the work is part of Dalí's outstanding graphic production, in which the artist transfers his pictorial language to the printed medium with great fidelity. This poster is a direct testimony of the close relationship between Dalí and Figueres, as well as of his will to turn the visual communication of his exhibitions into authentic autonomous works of art.

Salvador Dalí is one of the leading figures of 20th century art and one of the greatest exponents of surrealism. His work is part of the collections of institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Tate Modern (London) and the Museum of Modern Art (New York). His production, which includes painting, graphic work, sculpture and design, is characterized by an unmistakable iconography and a constant exploration of the subconscious, time and cultural identity.
