Dieter Roth was a multidisciplinary and visionary artist of German-Swiss origin who revolutionized contemporary art through a radical exploration of entropy, time and decomposition. A key figure linked to the Fluxus movement, he is world renowned for his innovative artist's books and for his use of ephemeral organic materials - such as chocolate, cheese or sugar - that allowed the work to physically transform and degrade in front of the viewer. His legacy is defined by an aesthetic of accumulation and controlled chaos, where drawing, sculpture and the obsessive recording of everyday life merge in a relentless quest to capture the fragility of existence and the beauty of the grotesque.
