Glenn Barr is a fundamental referent of Pop Surrealism and the Lowbrow movement, whose work captures the essence of an industrial Detroit fused with a "retro-futuristic" and film noir aesthetic. His paintings function as cinematic vignettes charged with urban melancholy, where languid characters, robots and fantastic creatures coexist in scenarios that evoke the advertising and design of the mid-twentieth century. With a refined technique and a palette of atmospheric tones, Barr manages to amalgamate his roots in animation and comics with an avant-garde pictorial narrative, consolidating himself as a visual chronicler of dreamlike, sophisticated and subtly dystopian worlds.
