Kevin Peterson is not a photographer, but an American painter and visual artist from Houston known for his hyperrealist style, in which he often depicts children in dilapidated urban environments accompanied by animals, combining innocence and harshness with a strong symbolic component; his work "Coalition II" was used as the album cover for Red Hot Chili Peppers' The Getaway (2016), as the band discovered it online and was attracted by its aesthetic, so the album image is not a photograph but a painting by him.
