Not Banksy uses parody as a critical tool against authorship, copying and the construction of value in urban art. The image presents a rat painting a Japanese ideogram translatable as "fake", on a white and red background with a direct, almost propagandistic aesthetic. The work ironizes about the appearance of a "new Not Banksy" in the country of the rising sun, insisting on the usual ambiguity of the project.

Not Banksy is a graphic and satirical project linked to L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, a London space dedicated to publishing, graphics and counterculture. Initiated in 2007 by STOT21stCplanB, the project is articulated from the appropriation, parody and criticism of the art system.
