Tano Festa is considered one of the most important figures of Italian Pop Art. His work combined pop aesthetics with references to classical and Renaissance art, especially Michelangelo, reinterpreting famous images of Italian culture as modern symbols. He was part of the so-called Piazza del Popolo School together with artists such as Mario Schifano and Franco Angeli, and was noted for works such as Da Michelangelo and Creazione di Adamo.
