Original release poster for “The Tenth Victim” (La decima vittima, 1965), a science fiction film directed by Elio Petri and starring Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress. Based on Robert Sheckley’s short story “The Seventh Victim,” the film envisions a future society in which wars have been replaced by a televised spectacle known as The Great Hunt.
Considered one of the most unique works of European science fiction from the 1960s, it anticipated themes that would later become recurring motifs in the genre. Presented at the 1965 Cannes Film Festival, it was very well received for its visual and conceptual originality, eventually establishing itself as a cult classic.
