This painting, an 18th century version based on the original 17th century work attributed to Domenichino and entitled "Bathsheba and Solomon", represents a biblical scene with great theatricality and courtly solemnity, typical of the Roman Baroque style.

In the center of the composition are the main figures: King Solomon, seated on his throne, and Bathsheba, who appears in front of him, slightly bowed and with a reverent gesture. Both wear crowns, a sign of their royalty, and are wrapped in rich cloaks of vibrant colors (blue and gold for Solomon, green and red for Bathsheba), which stand out for their luminous treatment and voluminous folds. Solomon holds a scepter, symbol of authority and justice, while Bathsheba seems to make a request or show gratitude.

The dark background, covered by a canopy or drapery, concentrates attention on the main figures, highlighted by a warm illumination that models their faces and clothing. To the sides, several secondary figures (in more sober attire) watch the scene attentively, reinforcing the sense of solemnity of the moment.

The oval format and the architectural frame painted in earthy tones recall the original context of the work: a lunette in the Bandini chapel of San Silvestro al Quirinale in Rome, where Domenichino (1581-1641) executed a set of frescoes on biblical themes. The painting combines the classical balance and narrative clarity of the artist's Bolognese style with the emotionality and theatricality typical of the Roman Baroque.
