This work is related to the Dutch school of the XVIII century because it represents a scene of daily and elegant interior, centered in characters gathered in a domestic atmosphere more than in religious or heroic subjects, something very characteristic of the Dutch tradition of the genre scenes. The subdued and contrasting lighting is reminiscent of Rembrandt, with dark backgrounds and spotlights on the main figures, while paying great attention to the details of the fabrics, objects and intimate atmosphere, combining Dutch realism with the decorative and refined sophistication of the 18th century.
