In this landscape we can appreciate a naturalistic landscape, captured in function of a certain atmosphere, of a concrete, fleeting moment, immortalised and fixed on the canvas by the artist. The drawing remains in the background, and the expressive charge falls entirely on the strength of the fluid brushstrokes of the watercolour. The scene clearly reveals the heritage of the plein air movement. The author leaves aside the descriptive capture of the natural to emphasise the luminosity and chromaticism of the scene.
The image, which develops in a vertical format, presents us with a landscape built in depth and with great prominence. Despite this, the artist shows two figures in the foreground with their backs to the viewer, which makes them typical local archetypes, although it is true that they are shown from an idyllic stillness, exalting the peaceful values of physical labour. This idealisation was to a large extent encouraged by the social situation that prevailed in the big cities.
