The lakeside landscape with figures wrapped in robes and veils vibrates under the lights of an autumn sunset that toast the leaves of the dense trees.

Among the works he exhibited during his last period were Hagar in the Desert (1842), for which he won a second medal, the Lamentations of Jeremiah (1844), for which he won a first medal, Christ Preaching Charity (1853), and others. In addition to these paintings, he produced decorative works for several churches, in particular the church of Saint-Séverin in Paris. His work is kept at the École des beaux-arts in Paris.
