DESCRIPTION
EMILIO ÁLVAREZ DÍAZ (Buenos Aires, 1879 - Madrid, 1952).
"Horsemen galloping".
Oil on panel.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 14 x 20 cm; 45 x 49 cm (frame).
Painter of natural and urban landscapes, costumbristas and orientalist subjects, Emilio Alvarez emigrated with his family to Madrid when he was a child. He trained as a disciple of Emilio Ordóñez and learned painting and sculpture, although his shy character led him to avoid any official exhibition or competition. His language shows the influences of Goya, his follower Lucas Velázquez and Mariano Fortuny. He is currently represented in several private collections.
