After beginning his training in Seville, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and later expanded his knowledge in Paris. He lived for a long time in Barcelona, the city where he developed most of his pictorial activity. During his career, he made several exhibitions, participating assiduously in painting contests and competitions such as the Regional Exhibitions of Fine Arts in Seville in 1867, as well as the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888. He paid special attention to marine and seafaring themes, although he also cultivated portraits, figures and historical painting.
