The painting presents a lively coastal scene, constructed by means of a wide and deeply narrative composition. In the center rise several sailing boats, illuminated by a warm light that suggests a moment of port activity at dawn or dusk. On the right, a stranded or under repair ship's hull stands out, where a human figure leans towards the deck, emphasizing the laborious nature of the maritime environment.
On the left, a group of people gather near the shore, engaged in tasks related to trade or the transfer of goods. The loose brushstrokes and the atmospheric treatment of the sky, which expands in blue and greenish tones, give the whole a marked sense of depth and movement.
