DESCRIPTION

"Country scene".
Oil on canvas.
Presents craquelure and flaws in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 62 x 81,5 cm; 78 x 98 cm (frame).
Landscape scene of narrative character, animated by figures and animals. In the foreground a scene of hunting or confrontation with dogs is developed, while in the surrounding landscape there are grazing cattle and a rural architecture in the background, elements that contribute to structure the depth of the space.
The composition is organized by a wooded landscape open to a wide distance, with a winding tree that articulates the scene and leads the eye towards the horizon. The work presents a warm palette of ochers and greens and an atmospheric treatment of the landscape characteristic of the Flemish Baroque tradition, where the landscape takes on a leading role and the small figures introduce a narrative component within the natural scene.
