Arthur Heyer was a painter who specialized mainly in animal scenes and landscapes, especially known for his depictions of cats, horses, dogs and hunting scenes. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, one of the most important artistic centers of the time, and developed a realistic style influenced by naturalism and late impressionism. His work is characterized by a great skill in the anatomical representation and movement of animals, as well as by a careful attention to the natural environment, with effects of light and atmosphere that bring dynamism to his compositions. Heyer enjoyed certain recognition in his time, especially within the field of genre and animalistic painting, being appreciated by collectors interested in hunting and rural scenes.
