Portrait of profile that represents a young woman covered with a translucent veil, in an intimate composition and of marked emotional character. The figure, cut out against a dark background of greenish tones, looks to the right, with a restrained gesture and melancholic expression, accentuated by the presence of a tear running down her cheek.

The work stands out for the atmospheric treatment of the painting, with a loose and vaporous brushstroke that dilutes the contours and gives the image an almost evanescent appearance. This resource is especially appreciated in the resolution of the veil, where the artist achieves effects of transparency through glazes and light touches of light.

The veil and the tear subtly evoke the tradition of the image of the Dolorosa, although reinterpreted from a freer and more emotional sensibility, far from devotional formulations.

The modeling of the face combines softness in the flesh tones with luminous accents in key areas, such as the cheekbone or the bridge of the nose, generating a delicate play of light and shadow. The palette, restrained and harmonious, reinforces the introspective tone of the composition.
