"Vegetables", 1879.
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 33,5 x 24 cm.
Brilliant landscape painter, Tomás Sans studied at the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona, and was a disciple of the painter José Armet Portanell. He participated in the Universal Exhibition of 1888, held in his hometown, and in 1894 he exhibited a landscape in the same city. Two years later he was awarded a second medal at the International Exposition of Barcelona for his canvases "El Llobregat", "Tarde de invierno", "Conspiradores" and "Plaza de San Baudilio". He also painted pictures of rural customs, such as "La guardia civil en la plaza de San Baudilio" and "Grupo de conspiradores", works that earned him the silver medal at the International Exhibition of Fine Arts held in Barcelona. Sans Corbella developed a meticulous and detailed style, in which the vividness of color was united with the harmonious expression of the whole and the atmosphere of the places reproduced. He is currently represented at the MACBA.
