The work presented is a copy of the famous Venetian Magistrate by Jacopo Tintoretto, one of the great masters of the Venetian school of the sixteenth century. The portrait reproduces the intense naturalism and powerful psychological force characteristic of the painter, depicting a male character with a penetrating gaze emerging from a dark background through a dramatic play of light and shadow.

The composition maintains the essential features of Tintoretto's original: the chromatic sobriety, the loose and vibrant brushstroke and the lighting focused on the face, resources that give the character a great emotional presence and a remarkable institutional dignity.
