Miguel Peña began studying Architecture in 1968, although he combined his studies with various drawing courses. From 1971 onwards he devoted himself fully to painting, and five years later he obtained a grant from the Juan March Foundation, followed by another one in 1981, this time from the Ministry of Culture. In 1977 he held his first solo exhibition at the Scrum Gallery in Madrid, and after holding individual exhibitions in several Spanish cities, he made the international leap in 1982, presenting his work at the Étienne de Causans Gallery in Paris. He will again hold personal exhibitions in that gallery in successive years, and in 1988 he shows his work, again individually, at the Pierre Parrat gallery in the same city. From then on, already fully recognized at international level, he will hold personal exhibitions in various cities in Spain, as well as in Brussels, New York and Leira (Portugal). Since 1978 he has also taken part in important group exhibitions in Spain, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Belgium, as well as participating in fairs such as ARCO, ArtExpo, ArtMadrid, ArtChicago and ArtMiami.
