Artist belonging to the group of avant-garde regeneration, making his appearance in the early fifties by the hand of the group "The Instropectistas", renewing the post-war Valencian art scene. In 1945 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, becoming a disciple of Salvador Tusset, Ricardo Verde or Vicente Beltrán and came into contact with Federico Montañana, Eusebio Sempere or Juan Genovés.
Sales' work, of impressionist key, combined with the exquisite arrangement of planes and chromatic masses, combined with echoes reminiscent of muralism. His work has always tended to evolve, because what at first was shown with sudden strokes and Repainting of color, towards the eighties began to perceive a dissolution of the figurative accompanied by the emergence of almost formal resources.
In his painting, he has maintained the sense of subjective figuration of previous pictorial stages, in which figurative and abstract elements are combined, as in the case of the present work "Still Life" from 1993. His trajectory was difficult to pigeonhole from the beginning due to the constant evolution that reveals the need to experiment and investigate in the pictorial field in order to find different and revolutionary results. In addition to his pictorial activity, he has dedicated himself to teaching as a professor of natural drawing, transferring his knowledge to young artists.
