Antonio Pessoa's language is definitely influenced by the early avant-garde of the 20th century, such as Matisse, Braque, Picasso and Marc Chagall. Between 1997 and 2001, Antonio Pessoa lived between Vigo and Porto, therefore, his work has been inevitably influenced by Galician painting. The artist himself states "Art stimulates and empowers me. Personally, I have always felt that respect for tradition in avant-garde work, in fact, I have always imposed myself within a context of essential reference. On the other hand, the classical has the weight of its inevitable importance in my spiritual life as an artist".
