Outstanding landscape painter, Josep Castellanas initiates his formation in Barcelona, where he had as teacher Santiago Rusiñol, the great painter of gardens (among other things). With him he traveled to Mallorca in 1919, being so admired by the splendor of the Mallorcan landscape that he decided to settle permanently on the island. He participated in the Fine Arts Exhibitions held in Barcelona in 1920, 1921 and 1922. In 1936 he took part in the Salón de Primavera in Barcelona, and in 1942 in the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes in Madrid. He is represented in several national private collections.
